Tecno, a Shenzhen-based company focus on the African market making it the continent’s number one brand by market share in 2017. We have seen so many devices like Xiaomi and Vivo, started locally and later expands to other continents to be recognized globally. But Tecno’s focus is on Africa.
Since it focus is on Africans, Tecno decides to sell it phones at comparatively low prices. The Tecno Camon 16 premier price is relatively low, the recommended retail price tag is around $290 when converted from its official price in Nigeria and Kenya.
However, Tecno still lags behind in the mobile-phone industry. This device still use Mediatek chipset which makes this device to be considered mid-range when it comes to power. But it offers good value for money.
Display
The Tecno Camon 16 Premier is a great looking phone with amazing designs. This smartphone comes with a 6.9-inch FHD display and a resolution of 1080 x 2460 pixels. Also, this device display has a refresh rate of 90Hz which is the first of it kind found on any Tecno phone. Although you can get a Xiaomi Poco X3 NFC which offers a 120Hz refresh rate at roughly the same price.
The Tecno Camon 16 Premier introduced an auto ultra wide angle dual punch hole selfie camera. This device has the best camera we have ever seen in Tecno phones. The front camera has a 48Mp+8Mp designed with a super clear selfie lens. This makes you shot high quality pictures.
Memory and Storage
Tecno Camon 16 Premier comes with 8GB internal memory and 128GB storage. The memory is good enough and you have little or no problem with installing a significant amount of apps in this device.
Body
When you take a look at the back of this phone, you will find a “four-camera” system. We quoted “four-camera” because out of these cameras, only two are needed or used here. Most budget phones include these cameras just for marketing purpose. So that they are able to say a phone has more cameras. Only two of the cameras are used in reality. The 64Mp and the 8Mp cameras are the ones in the main system, the other two are relatively low-pixel and depth sensor. But these features are pretty good at this price range.
The overall design of this device is a great one at this price. A side-mounted fingerprint scanner is also included in this smartphone.
Performance
The Tecno Camon 16 premier is powered by Mediatek Helio G90T processor. This processor is a mid-range chip that can handle multitasking and most modern apps and games without any fault. The overall performance of this device is good at this price.
Software
Not everybody will be concerned about the software experience in this device. Things run smoothly with the device, but if you buy this device, you will find out there is a lot of bloatware (apps that are pre-installed in the phone, i.e apps that comes with the phone). But we find the software to be Okay.
