Priced at ₦60,000 ($138) in Nigeria, the infinix hot 10 comes with a MeiaTek Helio G70 processor, 3GB RAM and 64GB ROM. This makes it one of the fastest budget phones in the market.

For the gamers out there on a budget, the Infinix Hot 10 could be the phone you have been waiting for.

Unboxing

What’s in the box?

The Infinix Hot 10 comes in a green and yellow box. Opening the box, the first thing you will see is the smartphone. The smartphone comes in four different colours, these are Obsidian black, Ocean wave, Amber Red and Moonlight Jade.

In terms of accessories, you get a transparent TPU case, a sim removal tool, a tin film protector, earpiece and micro USB port charger. A USB type-C port would have been better here, but Infinix did not include that in order to make the phone come with the G70 processor at it price.

Design

The Infinix hot 10 is made from plastic. Plastic is a durable material, so when this device drops accidentally, you don’t have a problem. The front of this device has no kind of protection. So, I will advice you get a plastic screen protector to be on a safer side.

On the rear of this smartphone, you will find a quad camera set-up and the fingerprint sensor. The camera set-up is the latest and trending set-up at the time of release. The fingerprint sensor works fine and it respond very fast. You can set the fingerprint to always open any of your favourite app whenever you unlock your device with your fingerprint.

At the front of the device, you will find the punch hole 16Mp camera with dual LED flash. We don’t know the kind of glass the screen uses. But it is not a Corning Gorilla glass.

At the right, you will find the volume keys and power key. The dual sim trail and the memory slot is located at the left of this device.

At the bottom, we get the mono speaker, a micro USB port, a 3.5mm audio jack and a single mic. Testing the Speaker, the sound quality is average. The single mic is not that fantastic while recording videos, a dual mic would have been the best.

It also comes with a micro USB port which I think Infinix forego for the G70 processor in order to bring the price down.

Display

The Infinix Hot 10 TFT IPS LED screen packs 720 x 1640 pixels and 6.78-inch display. The screen size is very large in order to provide a good gaming experience for users. You get an amazing experience using this device to play your favourite games, streaming videos, consuming medias and browsing your favourite social media app and the front camera cut-out does not get in your way.

The screen size might not be convenient for some people with small hands, but playing games on smartphone requires large screen to get the best viewing experience. And the Infinix Hot 10 is specifically made for gaming.

Camera

The Infinix hot 10 is packed with an amazing quad camera. The device features a 16Mp main camera, 2Mp macro lens, 2Mp AI lens and Bokeh Lens. Close to the cameras is a LED flash. This is not the best camera, but considering the price, this is a good choice.

In the front of this device, the Infinix Hot 10 spot a single 8Mp punch hole camera. Looking at the front camera, this is one area I don’t really like about the device. The front cameras are not that sharp and crisp. If you want a selfie camera phone, then you need to look elsewhere.

The device has a face unlock features that respond very fast. The camera also have an option of 2K resolution or 1080p resolution. Testing the cameras, I did not really see much difference.

Performance

Speaking of performance, this is where the Infinix Hot 10 shines. The device features the MediaTek Helio G70 processor and a Mali-G52 graphics processing unit that helps in rendering the visuals when gaming.

Testing the performance of the Infinix Hot 10 on AnTuTu, the performance score is 179037. This is a good score and it shows that the device is 50% faster than the Infinix Hot 9.

On Geekbench, the device scores 380 on a single core task and 1370 on Multi-core task. The scores and performance of this device is similar to the Infinix note 8.

The Infinix Hot 10 runs smoothly when playing power intensive apps. I didn’t experience any heating or lag when playing PUBG for 1 hour.

For multitasking, the Infinix Hot 10 comes with a 3GB RAM and 64GB memory. With only 3GB, if you have around 5 apps running in the background, the device will not be able to retain all of them. This is also another area Infinix had to cut down to make the device affordable.

Infinix has taken gaming to the next level by providing the best and cheapest gaming device you could get in late 2020.

Software

The Infinix Hot 10 runs the android 10, the latest at the time of released. This device also runs the latest Infinix XOS, XOS 7.1.

Infinix phones comes with a lot of bloatware, this is an area many users complain about Infinix device. Bloatware are pre-installed apps that comes with a smartphone. Has much as I love the Infinix Zero 8 and Note 8, the only problem with these devices is bloatware.

Many users ignore this, but ads and even apps that are not on Google Play store keeps showing. And you get a lot of apps you don’t need and some of these apps cannot be removed from the device.

If you care about bloatware, you can install a third-party launcher. These launchers will not display those annoying apps. We recommend Nova launcher for this purpose.

Battery

The Infinix Hot 10 comes with a 5100mAh battery, this is a great battery with a good capacity. With this large capacity, the phone could last you a day after a full charge. Playing PUBG drained the battery from 98% to 86% after 1-hour play.

Charging this device, it took almost 2 and half hours which is not quite impressive. Even if you use a fast charger, you get the same result. Again, Infinix cut this just to lower the price of this device. The USB isn’t a type-C port.

Why should I buy the Infinix Hot 10?

Buy it if;

  • Gaming is your priority
  • Want a fast and great performing phone at a very low price

Don’t buy it if;

  • Fast charging phone
  • If you hate bloatware
  • you want a camera phone
